As of February of 2015, Defense Consulting Services, LLC provides cybersecurity support to the American Gas Association (AGA). AGA represents companies delivering natural gas to customers while providing information and services promoting efficiency and operational excellence in the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas. In support of the Downstream Natural Gas Information Sharing and Analysis Center (DNG-ISAC), the DCS Threat Analyst evaluates physical and cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and risks. The Threat Analyst conducts ongoing risk assessments that cement the relationships between the Oil and Natural Gas Subsector in the US with federal agencies that include the Department of Defense (DoD), the Department of Energy (DoE), the Department of Transportation (DoT), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). As a result of these assessments, the Threat Analyst guides the handling of the multiple warnings, alerts, analysis requests and inquiries that are frequently received. As an advocate in the interests of AGA members and their customers, DCS keeps communication open by publishing pertinent information via the Chief Security Officer (CSO) magazine’s Cybersecurity Industrial Defender blog and through other professional groups’ sites. According to an article published by SNL Financial Business Intelligence, the DCS Threat Analyst is a national cybersecurity “expert.” As such, insight and up-to-date intelligence is provided to various federal agencies regarding the cyber activities of all internal and foreign entities that may impact national energy matters.
